Peterborough Historical Society October 2022 Lecture: Panel Discussion on “What is an Urban Park for?”

October 18, 2022 @ 7:30 pm

OUR OCTOBER MEETING WILL BE HELD IN-PERSON. The location will be Bagnani Hall at Traill College. It is a spacious room with an HVAC system and an additional HEPA filter.

“What is an Urban Park For?”
A Panel Discussion on Jackson Park

The discussion will examine the history of Jackson Park from its industrial origins to an entertainment and recreational park, and on the challenges facing the park today. This promises insights into one of the City’s vital assets at a time when the pressures of development underscore the need for sustainable urban greenspaces. The panelists include Robert Clarke, award winning author and resident expert on the movie industry; Terry Hawkins, former Academic Superintendent of the Peterborough County Board of Education and early resident of Bonaccord Street; Karen Carter-Edwards, retired history teacher and local historian; and Richard Scott, retired planner with Parks Canada who worked on the Trent Severn Waterway and the Rouge National Urban Park.

Tuesday, 18 October 2022, Bagnani Hall, Traill College, 7:30 p.m. All welcome. Street parking on London and Dublin Streets.
