Maurice Smith, Maritime historian and former director of the Museum of the Great Lakes, will speak on “The Calvin Company Four-master Barque” about the construction of The Garden Island, an ocean-going barque.

Maurice Smith (Barque2@cogeco.ca) is the author of Steamboats on the Lakes: Two Centuries of Steamboat Travel Through Ontario’s Waterways (James Lorimer and Company, Ltd., Toronto, 2005).
