May 17, 2022 @ 7:30 pm

Speaker: Dr. Christopher Dummit

The May monthly meeting will remain virtual and continue our regular schedule on the third Tuesday of the month, 17 May at 7:30 p.m. The meeting will be conducted on Zoom with a question and answer period following the speaker’s presentation. Attendees will be provided with the link to join meetings when they register by email to the email address provided.

Sport, which attracts great popular interest, is also the subject of serious historical investigation. It provides entertainment for mass audiences and a rich source for the social history of communities. The centenary of the Quaker Park Tennis Club is an apt occasion to explore the place of tennis in Peterborough’s past. Christopher Dummitt is Professor of Canadian History at Trent University who writes on history, politics and culture for both scholarly and popular audiences. He also plays a lot of tennis.

Tuesday, 17 May 2022, 7:30 p.m. on Zoom. Register to attend by sending an email note to info@peterboroughhistoricalsociety.ca with “Tennis” in the subject line. Deadline to register is noon, 17 May.
