OGS Toronto Branch Toronto History Lecture (Virtual): Eric Sehr, “The Tragic Fate of Huron Elliott: A Forgotten Indigenous Worker on Toronto’s Water Tunnel Project”
Toronto Branch is pleased to present this year’s Toronto History Lecture: The Tragic Fate of Huron Elliott: A Forgotten Indigenous Worker on Toronto’s Water Tunnel Project. Our speaker is researcher, writer and urban planner Eric Sehr.
One of the most significant projects undertaken in Toronto during the early 1900s was the construction of the Water Supply Tunnel in Toronto’s harbour. Huron Elliott, a miner from the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, arrived in Toronto in 1907 to work on this project. Tragically, he and three other workers lost their lives just days later.
The Lecture will be held online via Zoom on Tuesday, August 8th, at 7:30 pm EDT. It is free to attend, but you must register. The talk will be recorded for later viewing.
