Thunder Bay Museum (In-Person and Virtual) Lecture – Is there a unique accent in Northern Ontario? Insights from the Ontario Dialects Project
You are invited to join the Thunder Bay Historical Museum Society to experience a unique presentation from Professor Sali A. Tagliamonte on the history and culture of dialects in Northern Ontario.
The lecture will explore some of our area’s unique words and expressions, what they say about us and provide information on the Ontario Dialects Project.
Audience members will have the opportunity to share their own stories!
This will be an in-person and virtual event.

Professor Sali A. Tagliamonte is a Canadian linguist, born and raised in Northern Ontario, now Canadian Research Chair in Language Variation and Change, Professor and Chair of the Linguistics Department at the University of Toronto.
The Ontario Dialects Project was funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada and the Killam Trust.
