A Community Legacy

The church’s first service was May 8th, 1873, just one year after construction began on land donated by John Madill. Each family of the congregation donated two round logs and labour.

Almost 150 years later the church is a provincially significant building and one of Ontario’s few remaining square log churches commemorated by a provincial heritage plaque.

The adjoining cemetery includes graves of many Muskoka pioneer, including Captain George Hunt, “Pioneer Citizen after whom Huntsville was named.”
