Hastings County Historical Society Presents “Rumrunners: The Story of Ben Kerr and Prohibition” with Dan Buchanan

September 20, 2022 @ 7:30 pm

Hastings County Historical Society Invites you to a Public Presentation With Guest Speaker Dan Buchanan – The History Guy of Brighton

Dan Buchanan combines in-depth research with engaging stories to entertain and educate. Dan will tell the amazing story of Ben Kerr, one of the most notorious rum runners on Lake Ontario during prohibition.

Follow Ben Kerr from his youthful days in Hamilton, through his smuggling days, including many visits to Belleville harbour to pick up whiskey from Corby’s distillery. Prohibition shaped Ben Kerr’s life and would lead to his tragic death in the unforgiving ice floes of Lake Ontario winter. Crime doesn’t pay, but Ben Kerr made the cash flow, at least for a while. This is fascinating local and Canadian history!

Note: Enter Maranatha Church by main front doors. The presentation is in the main auditorium, which allows for plenty of spacing between seats.
