Local media, tourism representatives, Museum partners, and special supporters were invited to enjoy a complimentary authentic Devon Tea in the Canadiana’s 175-year old Woodrow Homestead and learn about the Museum and its 2017 program. Curator/Chair Wayne Scott outlined a brief history of this unique property along the Coldwater River and invited everyone to tour the homestead, its outbuildings and displays. Special partnerships with organizations such as the Coldwater and Area Studio Tour, Coldwater Steampunk Festival, Orillia and District Construction Association, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of North Simcoe, were also highlighted. A new exhibit, “150 Moustache Mugs for Canadiana 150” was promoted as was Heritage Day on July 16. Special guests at this event will include culinary historian Dorothy Duncan, palaeobotanist Rudy Fecteau and printmaker Tim Laurin. OHS Past President Dr. Brad Rudachyk brought greetings from the Ontario Historical Society and offered much valued support.
