Oakville Historical Society – Afternoon Tea at The Cottages [SOLD OUT]
May 4 @ 12:00 pm - 5:30 pm
$40Note: Event is sold out (April 14, 2025)
In 1840 the Duchess of Bedford introduced the custom of having a light snack in the afternoon to tide her over as dinner was served very late. The habit spread throughout the aristocracy and quickly developed into a more substantial repast.
Join us for “Afternoon Tea at the Cottages” on Sunday May 4. Our costumed ladies will serve you savoury finger sandwiches, delectable sweets, fresh scones with cream and strawberry preserves and piping hot tea in our Spring Garden tea room. Feel free to dress up a little or a lot. Hats, gloves and fascinators are welcome.
We will have three sittings at: 12:00, 2:00 and 4:00. In order to best make use of our limited space, we are offering tickets in tables of four, so bring along your Duke and/or Duchess friends and family.
Regretfully, the cottage is not wheelchair accessible. Children 10 years of age and older are welcome when accompanied by an adult.
Tickets:
Members of the Oakville Historical Society have the opportunity to purchase advance tickets directly from the Society thus avoiding the Eventbrite fee.
Tickets are $40 per person. You can pay at the office, 110 King St on Tuesday or Thursday afternoons between 1:00-4:30 pm or by etransfer at historyoakville@gmail.com.
Please be sure to order in groups of 4 tickets and note in the comments your name, email and which sitting you prefer. (12:00, 2:00 or 4:00), otherwise we cannot guarantee a reservation will be held as we will not be able to send you a confirmation.
Tickets will be available to the general public Monday April 7.
