DESCRIPTION:Presented by Shirleyan English & Bonnie Sitter \nBonnie and Shirleyan will take you back in time to WWll by showing photos and telling stories about the teenage Farmerettes who volunteered and replaced men who had been employed doing farm labour. The men had enlisted for military service and farmers were desperate for help. Not many farmers or parents even believed the young girls could replace them\, but they proved them wrong.\, They worked on market garden farms\, orchards and vineyards and canning factories from 1941-1952 . SUMMARY:Niagara-on-the-Lake Museum: The History of C&C Yachts
DESCRIPTION:Robert Mazza will speak about the founding and transformation of C&C Yachts from three small sailboat builders and their common design firm to one of the most successful and well respected sailboat builders in the world. \nRob Mazza is a Mechanical Engineer and Naval Architect with over forty year in the marine industry.  He began as a yacht designer with C&C Yachts and Mark Ellis Design in Canada\, and Hunter Marine in the US.  He moved to sales and marketing of structural cores and bonding compounds with ATC Chemicals in Ontario\, and Baltek\, Inc. in New Jersey. Returning to Canada in 2011\, Mazza is currently semi-retired\, acting as Technical editor for Good Old Boat magazine\, and has written articles for Professional Boatbuilder\, and Wooden Boat magazines. His articles often focus on the history and development of yacht design\, especially in Canada.  Mazza sat on the Board of Directors of the Marine Museum of the Great Lakes at Kingston for ten years\, is a past Vice Commodore and member of the Board of the Royal Hamilton Yacht Club\, and is currently chair of the Canadian Sailing Hall of Fame Management Committee and the RHYC Heritage Committee.  \nIn-person lectures are $10 for the general public or free for Niagara Historical Society/Museum Members. \nPlease call 905-468-3912 to reserve your spot!
