SUMMARY:Oshawa Historical Society February Speaker Series: To Cast a Reflection: The Henry Family Letters
DESCRIPTION:In 2013\, the Oshawa Museum received an amazing donation\, hundreds of papers relating to Elder Thomas Henry\, whose house makes up one third of the Oshawa Museum. The letters in this collection provide valuable insight into the Henry Family and the world around them.  Archivist Jennifer Weymark will share memorable stories\, all of which culminated in the book To Cast a Reflection: The Henry Family in Their Own Words. \nThe Oshawa Historical Society’s February Speaker Series is taking place Tuesday\, February 19 at 7PM. The Speaker Series will be held at the Arts Resource Centre\, located at 45 Queen Street\, Oshawa. Admission to the Oshawa Historical Society Speaker Series is $3 or FREE for members of the Oshawa Historical Society. \nAbout the Oshawa Historical Society and the Oshawa Museum: The Oshawa Museum (OM) preserves and promotes awareness and appreciation of Oshawa’s history for the education\, enrichment and enjoyment of a diverse audience. DESCRIPTION:Constructed between 1825 and 1832 by the “Children of Peace\,” the Sharon Temple has changed and evolved throughout the years\, from a meeting place to raise funds for the poor\, emphasizing the importance of charity\, to its current life as museum and historic site.
