Ridout Auditorium at 6:30pm–all are welcome\, and please bring a friend. \nOur presenter will be Mr. Wayne Reeves on topic… \n“Before Neon\, Plastic\, and Digital: Toronto’s Early Business Signs”\nThis illustrated talk explores how commercial signs influenced the look and feel of Toronto’s streetscapes up to the year 1900. Over the course of the 19th century\, outdoor signs using wood\, paint\, and gas were joined by metal\, paper\, and electricity\, with measured restraint in the early years giving way to flamboyant abundance by the end of the Victorian era.
