SUMMARY:Kinmount Fair Heritage Complex - Community Crossroads
DESCRIPTION:For those of you who never seem to have time to visit area historical presentations aka museums and historical societies\, but have an interest in local history\, legends and genealogy\, this year’s Heritage Complex theme is for YOU! \nWe have invited history focused groups from the Kinmount area. It is guaranteed to be the most interesting and thought-provoking exhibition you will see this year. The groups will bring their best photos\, stories\, videos\, publications\, interactive installations\, artifacts and their best volunteers! Each display will be a look into unique discoveries\, and the tributes to them. \nWe are lucky to have 3 (at last count) museums in Kinmount\, and our immediate neighbours being Trent Lakes\, Burnt River\, Norland\, Coboconk\, Minden\, Wilberforce\, and Irondale. From further afield\, Kirkfield\, Kawartha Lakes\, Bobcaygeon and Fenelon Falls will also be represented. Geography brought us together\, but history has connected us. \nRepresented will be a National Historic Site\, you’ll be able to search archived online newspapers\, see the Icelandic Story told\, sample settler stories and adventures\, hear about Immigrant tribulations\, see salvaged log ends\, land records and photos you’ve never seen before. See insights of the documentary about our ‘Movie Man’\, Keith Stata. Yes\, there will be trains and whistles. \nSo\, bring your curiosity and questions and you may make some connections of your own. Your family will thank you. \nTo quote our friends at Bark Lake Cultural Development: “The questions are endless\, and the answers are fascinating.” \nAugust 30\, 31\, September 1 at Kinmount Fair Heritage Complex 10 am to 6 pm (5pm on Sunday)
