These letters show our support for the important work OHS members do, oppose the demolition of built or natural heritage assets, or advocate for improved working conditions for heritage organizations.

Letter Opposing the Demolition of the Historic Bruce Mines Jail

On behalf of the Ontario Historical Society (OHS), I would like to make known our Society’s strong opposition to the Town’s proposed demolition of the historic building, the Bruce Mines Jail, and recommend that the ownership of the building be transferred to OHS member organization, the Bruce Mines & District Historical Society.

Opposition to Proposed Depot Site on Grey Road 14

On behalf of the Ontario Historical Society (OHS), I am writing to you in support of the Old Durham Road Black Pioneer Cemetery Committee (ODRBPCC), and their opposition of the proposed depot site on Grey Road 14 adjacent to this nationally-significant Black heritage site.

Letter of Support for City of Greater Sudbury’s Heritage Museums Curator

I am writing this letter on behalf of the Ontario Historical Society, and in support of the work of our affiliate society Anderson Farm Museum Heritage Society, opposing the city’s proposed cuts to the 2021 museum funding for the position of Curator; a position responsible for the Anderson Farm, Copper Cliff, Flour Mill, and Rayside-Balfour Museums.

Letter of Support for the Wolfe Island Historical Society

I am writing this letter on behalf of the Ontario Historical Society, supporting our affiliate member, the Wolfe Island Historical Society’s request that the historic Briceland House on 1208 Main St., Marysville not be demolished as part of the construction of a new ferry terminal.
